Primordial Cascade
This drawing is where the visual language behind the Unending Manuscript Engine began.
I made this piece at the end of 2012 while experimenting with a kind of freeform drawing practice—allowing lines to emerge intuitively and following them wherever they wanted to go. What started as a simple doodle gradually grew into a dense ecosystem of forms: textures, patterns, organic shapes, and strange landscapes that seemed to evolve on their own across the page.
At the time, I wasn’t trying to make a finished artwork. I was exploring a process—letting the drawing grow organically, responding to each mark as it appeared. Over hours of careful ink work, the piece became layered with cross-hatching, fine lines, and flowing patterns that create a sense of motion and depth.
Looking back now, this drawing became the first seed of a much larger project. The shapes and visual rhythms I discovered here eventually formed the foundation of the doodle language I continue to develop today. Years later, those drawings would even become part of the training material for a custom AI model that generates evolving animations for the Unending Manuscript Engine.
Because of that, this piece holds a special place for me. It represents the moment when a private, experimental drawing practice began to open into something bigger—a visual system that continues to grow and transform.
Every time I revisit this drawing, I still notice new relationships between forms: hidden creatures, landscapes, textures, and patterns emerging from the density of the ink. I hope viewers experience something similar—the feeling of wandering through a living terrain of marks and discovering their own interpretations along the way.
This print is a high-quality reproduction of the original ink drawing, preserving the intricate detail and layered textures of the pen work.
For collectors and supporters of the project, this piece represents the origin point—the moment when a single page of improvisational drawing quietly began the path toward an evolving illuminated manuscript.
